Don't Stress....Distressed Jeans on A Budget!

Hi Cuties!!
Its been a long time, I know I am slipping on my post! But please forgive me, I have been busy enjoying my summer :-) I come to you on this Saturday morning to share my new Kellzism (random things I do when I'm bored)...For the past few months, I have been looking for a crazy pair of distressed jeans , and never could find a pair to my liking(or for my pockets)! If you are unsure of what Distressed jeans are, They kinda look like this

Well there is no Kinda, this is how they look, lol! I would always see them, But I needed more! I like a little more craziness in my life, so Guess what, I started investigating how I can make my own!

 

 

I started looking at pinterest and  YouTube video's on how I can make this happen, But the thing is with me, I get bored so if it looked to difficult, or was a boring video, I would just watch another one! So I watched over 10 videos and although they had similarities, they were all kinda different as far as the individual methods they used to make the process successful! FRUSTRATING! So what did I have to do, Wing it! So let's get started on how I did mine!

 

I started off with a regular dark wash jean from old navy I thrifted. ( I was not spending tons of money on jeans to practice on) These are the exact jeans I bought

I wanted a skinny jean so I can wear a heel and give them a sexy edgy affect!

So I gathered my items and got started!

 

Items needed

Bleach

a small bucket

Large thick rubber bands

scissors

Rubber Gloves

Box Cutter (optional)

 

First thing I did was fold the jeans in half and make slits in them. I only did the front of my jeans, But if you want to do the back, feel free! Their yours, be original! I made different size slits from the top thigh all the way to my ankle, just to add some variety to the wholes in my jean! Remember to pull the pockets out first. You jean should look similar to this

 

Pretty Simple!!!

 

After your slits are completed wherever you want them on your jeans, Now its time to add the rubber bands! I used the twisting technique. I started from the bottom and twisted my jean real tight before adding 2 rubber bands. Be original, and add them how you want, and where you want!

 

It looks crazy, and trust me, I was worried, but hey, it was worth a try! After I made sure all my bands were tight, Now was time for the bleaching! I mixed 2 cups of water and 1 cup of bleach in the small budget, but needed more, so I doubled the solution! WARNING, THIS IS EXTREMELY OVERWHELMING! DO IN A OPEN SPACE, LIKE OUTSIDE!!!!

 

Dip the the jeans in the solution (wearing gloves) If you want only want a part of the jean bleached, Dip only that specific part, and stop at inch before it goes to the unbleached part because Bleach runs! I only wanted the certain parts of my jean bleached to create a Ombre affect

 

Now the videos I watched, I noticed that some people were leaving them in hours and even over night! Yea, I'm impatient, so I watched mine ever 15 minutes! I'm so glad I did, I noticed them changing so quickly!  I kept checking them until they turned to the color I desired!

 

Once I seen my color, I removed them from the bleach, and Cut the Rubber bands off, and and rinsed soaked them in Cold water!! Rinsing them over and over again. I actually ran them through the washer on the cold cycle (No detergent) twice!  When they came out, I notice they weren't that white bleached look, they were more yellow! Still cute, but I wanted them white!!!!  I washed them twice, this time with detergent, and I notice the they were getting white! whooooo whooooo! I was excited! I also noticed that my slits were now shredded holes! Omg, I was in love! I threw my jean in the dryer, and here's the finished product!!!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oh yea!! My jeans were just how I want them, and I only spent 8 bucks!!!!!! I have seen them  in stores for over  $100.00, I think I'm kind of proud of myself!

 

I rocked them with a simple white tank, leopard peep toe, my thrifted red clutch and hit the town!

 

My whole look was under 30 bucks!!! Beauty on a Budget!

 

 

Check out these hint below, that may help you achieve that perfect jean just for you!

 

1. Rinsing your jean with white vinegar after the bleaching process will stop the bleaching immediately, This is strictly optional  

2. I read that a cup of regular powder detergent in the bleach solution will prevent the "yellow" look in your jeans, I didn't try this, but it won't hurt anything

3. It's very important to watch your jeans, after about 25 minutes, they were ready to rinse. I tried another pair, just for fun, soaked them for over a hour , and it created hole I didn't ask for!

4. Its very important to be in fresh air, or at least in a wide open area. I decided to do it in my kitchen and became short of breath and smelled bleach for the next 24 hours! So take my advice and DON'T DO IT!

4. The thicker the jean, the better (my opinion) I tried this on a old stretch jean in my closet, and they kind of feel apart. Well, I did bleach them longer, but it still seems like the process was too harsh on the thinner jean!

Oily Hair????( Ain't nobody got time for dat)

Whew,

Where the heck have I been???? I have not created a single Blog since January! Ugh, I need to get it together! But trust me, I have a lot to say, and I will be doing that very soon :-) BUT for now, I wanted to just tell you very quickly,  about one of my new favorite products! It will help you stretch your hairstyle and I promise you will love it!!! Now you guys know me, so you know it always comes with a story! So follow me!!!!!

We all have busy lives,and although I love my bi-weekly visits to the salon, sometimes my schedule has permitted me from doing so! Recently I have been working crazy hours, and the nerve of my job to schedule me late on HAIR DAY ( I know, I almost quit) Anyway, I was pissed! So I knew I had to delay my appointment by only a few days!! I looked in the mirror at my choppy bob that I loved 2 weeks ago, and what did I see??? A oily mess!!!! Don't believe me??? Well let me show you!!

Now, I'm not sure how it got like this because i don't even use oil on my hair,But I am pretty sure it came from my oily 5 head! Oh,well it was done and it was nothing I could do! Or maybe it was!

I was watching Tv late one night and I seen this product by Fructis Called High Volume Dry Shampoo. And I kept seeing it Over and over again! So I knew the LORD was saying "My Child, Your hair looks a mess, and I know you have only delayed your appointment by 3 days, but fix that mess" (Yup he did)  I debated on if this would work on my weave and decided I had nothing to lose (besides 6 bucks)  So I ran to my Local Walgreens to pick it up!!  I found it right away, ran home to try it!!! Ok, let me share a secret about me! I am extremely impatient! Once I get focused on something I want and want it NOW! So I skimmed through the directions and this is what happened!

ALL BAD! It was all white! I was freaking out!!!! What had I done wrong??? Was this product safe for weave!!!!Well it should be, I bought human hair dammit!!!  I grabbed the bottle and read it THIS TIME thoroughly! OOOOOh, I need to comb it through!!!  SO I did so!!! I focused on my bang because that's where the problem area was! So I sprayed and combed and sprayed a little more! Wrapped my Hair and went to sleep!!!!

I woke up for church the next day, hoping for the best!  I removed my my silk scarf and combed my hair down and HONEY!!!!! I was back!!! So full of body (hence the high volume) and oil free!!! It had that shine that it had when I first got it!  I was so impressed!!!!

I love it!!!!! 

The only thing I would suggest is that you spray a little at a time!!! Do not go all crazy l did!  ESPECIALLY with colored hair! My pink and purple streaks needs a little boost, so I sprayed just a light oil sheen and was good to go!!!! Also, I don't know how this would work on your less expensive brands of hair. I can only speak for the kind  I used but I'm sure it will be ok( if not sorry) lol! And you natural ladies, try it too!!! Let me know what you think???? So I've been running all day, Grocery Shopping, Makeup runs, trying to transform myself from My edgy usual self to Little Miss Stepford Wife. Apron, Polka Dress and Pearls, and June Cleaver Red Lipstick! Here was my look

Well anyway , I told Corey we were going to a restaurant we had been trying to go to, and to be ready by 3! I hit the stores first thing this morning! Running for groceries, props, candles, and everything else I needed to pull off this surprise! What was on the menu???? Steak, Shrimp Scampi, Grilled Tilapia, Roasted Garlic Asparagus and a Loaded Baked Potato! Oooooh, and when Corey and I first started dating, he told me that his Grandmother would make him a cake every year and it was his absolute fav! So Yup, Yellow Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting Topped with Walnuts! Yum!!! See, I will be the first to admit, I can cook basic but I get so overwhemed cooking and rushing! (and I never made steak before, DONT JUDGE ME, I don't eat red meat!)  But I think I did very well for my first time. So after a burn, and bad cut, and 2 broken nails, My Feast was Ready

                                                                              

                 I decorated my table, made a  Peach Rasperry Lemon Drop Martini and waited in my 1950's dress and pink pumps for my honey to arrive! And............................

Daring Deceptions..... Beauty on a Budget!!

Hi Guys!!!

Were almost to the weekend!!! Ahhh, The weekend! I LIVE FOR THEM! I was laying here thinking, hmmmmm,  maybe I should do one of my favorite things Saturday.And what would that be??? SHOPPING!!! BUT not just any shopping! MAKEUP SHOPPING!!! I love it! All types!!! Of course, I have my favorites that I know, I will never replace  or use anything other than it! But recently I have been addicted to research and found some AMAZING alternatives that are just as good and even better CHEAPER (Honey, I love a deal)  Recently,I found a cool article that gave so many great ideas on pinterest! So I pinned it, and when I went back AND IT WAS GONE!!!!  (DEVASTATING) So anyway, Let me share with you I have personally tried and found onlibe and may I add very impressed!!!!



Now yall know, I have expressed my love beforefor Nyx cosmetics! I love love love them!!!! I also love Mac, its was actually the only  makeup I ever bought...But thou has opened thine eyes and I am no longer a Makeup Snob! I use it all! If I hate it, guess what, I just don't buy it again, and my daughter, Amaya adds it to her collection! A 10 year old, with a makeup collection, wow I wish I was that lucky as a child!

Anyway back on subject! I literally stumbled accross this Dupe while shopping for something else, it has become my favorite Dupes by far!!! Wait, I'm sorry! Whats a Dupe???  I like to call it a MAKEUP DECEPTION, same quality, but usually much cheaper. So what did I find?? Nyx Lip Pencils!! They come is several amazing colors and are just as good as my usual Mac Lip Pencils. I started using Mac Chesnut Pencils with my Ooh Baby Gloss Years ago ( didn't everyone do that, I know you did) Anyways, I was out shopping and came accross this Nyx Expresso pencil...Heyyyy that looks like my Chesnut Pencil, but its $12 cheaper, hmmmmmm.  Now I am very particular about any makeup. I had a terrible reaction in high school that has scared me for life!!!! So I'm thinking, should I try it? What if I break out?? Ok, I'm going to try it and pray for the best! And Guess what, YUP I loved it!!!!!  And have been using it ever since, I actually found this comparison pic online

                                               I myself have never tried ELF lipstick, I like Wet&Wilds Bare it all..It gives a Matte look, this look is giving me a creamy finish. I will try it. Elf cosmetics are super inexpensive and  pretty good!

          Viva Glam Gaga/ Revlon's Colourburst Lipstick in Baby Pink

Now, after searching high and low for this lipstick, It was sold out everywhere! Leave it to my Honey to find it (Thanks Boo)  So I was ecstatic to try it! And it's a winner! I don't wear it often, but the pink it is definitely popping! I would try the Dupe too!!!

Sure I will continue to shop at Mac (probably a little too much) But its still cool to have a back up when you wanna do Beauty on a Budget! Will you try it??? It's Friday night, and what am I doing, in my bed, eating, drinking a Frozen Lemonade and  BLOGGING! Its cool, I don't mind, It feels like a 2 degrees out and the comfort of my warm room feels pretty effin amazing! What brings me to the Blogfession (did I just make that up, Hmmmm I like it). The topic of changing who you are, WITHOUT changing who you are! Sounds confusing huh?? Well let me explain. I the fact when someone sees me, they are so surprised at the person they are getting!!  Why, because I get bored with CONSISTENCY!!  I know, I know, they old saying, If it ain't broke then don't fix it! If you find something that looks good on you, stick with it!! NOPE, I have my own saying! Been there, loved it, moving on to find something I love a little MORE!!!!  So whats the best way to spice up who you are....DUH its HAIR!!!!!!!

Something as simple as changing your hair can make you feel like a new woman!! I walk in the salon feeling like a soccer mom, and walk out feeling like a video vixen!!! A good hairstyle will have you prancing like you're Beyonce! (trust me, I swear I'm shooting a video sometimes)  It can make you feel like a new you! Like your playing a role! Ever since I was a little girl I have always wanted to be a actress! (Hence the Drama Queen title everyone has given me!!! Shame on yall!) Anyway So since God has given me a different role in life, I choose to play my roles with my styles! ! So rather I'm feeling spicy, sweet, edgy, I run to the salon! I swear a great hairstylist can change your life!!!! And Mine is the greatest

So let me start by giving a Big Shout out to my stylist of 15 years (Yea that long, and I ain't going no where)  BIG ROY!!! When I say this man keeps getting better, I tell you the truth!! I rarely go in the salon with a picture and say I WANT THIS! Why? Because I trust him with my hair and I know he will not disappoint me! Rather its my natural hair or a weave I always leave with confidence, a smile, and a earful of compliments!!  Ok, back to hair....Now I know I'm just a beauty school drop out( DON'T YOU DARE JUDGE ME) But  I do know a little about hair. So I will give you some  personal advice.  God Knows I  love my weaves, but if they are not done (and removed)  correctly they can damage your hair ...so I do my best to protect my natural hair. If I had the choice I would rather get all my weaves  sewn it, BUT because I love variety and change my hair so much,  that would be so much money wasted...so what do I do I opt for hair bonding glue.  I know, all that pulling can be a strain on your natural hair so what have they done!!! Someone has created my best friend and its called Salon Pro 30 Sec Weave Wonder Wrap!!! This is the best thing since pockets!!! It's designed to prepare, preserve and condition the hair during various gluing and weaving procedures. The wrapping foundation not only Provides ease during the process but it also imparts strength and keratin to the hair through the delivery of nutrients and conditioners!!!!! Now I love my weaves But caring for my natural hair is important to me. So products like these help me along the way!!!


So all you ladies out there, saying what you can't rock, and won't look good on you! TRY IT first! Who would have ever thought I would've thought at 32, I would be rocked a shaved side! Well....maybe I'm a bad example because I have always been a little insane, but you get the picture! Switch it up! Give people a shock value when you walk in the office...You will be so surprised at the new walk you will have!!!! I walked in the salon today feeling terrible! Not only did he change my hair, but my attitude has changed!!  So it really doesn't matter how you rock it..BLONDE, BALD,RED,LONG,SHORT,SHAVED,KINKY, CURLY, STRAIGHT,WIGS.....Just remember to ROCK THE HELL OUT OF IT!!!!!
